As several residents geared up to cast their vote in today's scheduled election for Chief Secretary, a curve ball was thrown their way when the Commissioner's Office released a statement saying that the elections would be postponed until further notice.
When asked why, the Governing Commissioner had the following to say; "We made a mistake scheduling them so soon. Not only did the prospective candidates not have a chance to properly campaign, but now we have learned that they (the elections) weren't even legal to begin with. This combined with criticism from both residents and the imperial government alike have led this administration to postpone these elections until we can get everything worked out and democracy is allowed to be represented with full effect". Until these new elections are had, acting Chief Secretary Tony Sweigart will continue in his position and the government has assured residents that "everything will be sorted out and elections should be held by the end of March". - TVT News, 2 March 2020
